OUR PLAN

For the past year, the Lambda Chi Alpha alumni leadership has been assessing our future at The University of Alabama. The needs and desires of today’s undergraduates were reviewed, as well as the current condition of the house. Early evidence clearly demonstrates the need to make a major investment in the house if we are to provide a beneficial educational experience and an up-to-date facility that will serve young college men well into the 21st century.

The House Corporation has engaged the professional services of Richardson and Associates Architects to develop the design of our facility. In all areas, the architect has been instructed to address mandatory building and fire code requirements. In addition, we have placed a special emphasis on the use of practical and durable building materials, finishes, and fixtures. The aim is a high-quality fraternity house that will withstand heavy use over a number of years. The architect and House Corporation have developed an estimate for this project totaling approximately $3.3 million.

GIVING BACK TO LAMBDA CHI ALPHA

We urge your thoughtful consideration of this plan. You are the only one who can place a value on your LCA membership—on the lifelong friendships you made, on the development of your values and principles, and on the many ways Alpha-Phi Zeta enhanced your college years. The Lambda Chis who went before us made it possible for us to have this experience. Your participation is absolutely vital to the continued success of our Fraternity.

Each of us, simply by our presence, has contributed to the history of LCA Fraternity. How appropriate then that each of our names be entered into its halls. Each donor who contributes $1,000 or more will be recognized on a prominently displayed plaque. All donors contributing to the campaign will be recognized in campaign publications, unless otherwise requested.

Gifts in honor or in memory of brothers, as well as family and pledge/associate class gifts, are welcome. Recognition in such cases will be given to both the donor and honoree. Gifts of securities are also encouraged, as there are often significant tax advantages to the donor. (For professional advice, please consult your tax advisor.)

The University of Alabama will allow for the LCA building project to be paid in tax-deductible dollars, with all gifts made to the University and earmarked for the LCA capital campaign. When a donor makes a tax-deductible gift to The University of Alabama for the LCA A Tradition of Excellence: Honoring our Past, Securing our Future Campaign, it will be recorded and reflected in their lifetime giving to the University.

Because of the magnitude of our objectives, we are urging all alumni to consider major gifts to the campaign. In order for each alumnus to maximize his participation, gifts can be structured over a five-year pledge period. However, early gifts to the campaign are preferable to help reduce borrowing costs and to enable a one-time construction effort.

INVESTING IN OUR FUTURE

Our investment in the future of LCA will ensure the continued success of our Chapter. College fraternities continue to play a relevant role in the lives of young men. Today, perhaps more than ever, it is important that we provide young college men with a small, group-living environment that offers them a solid foundation for their education and also affords them opportunities for high academic achievement and the development of leadership and social skills.

The undergraduate men have already made a commitment to work hard in continuing the programs and traditions that have benefited the lives of so many Lambda Chis over the years. Together with our undergraduates, the alumni leadership is committed to this major undertaking that will allow us to renovate our Chapter House and compete with other fraternities at The University of Alabama.

Now we are seeking alumni leadership to provide financial and volunteer support, which will be crucial to lead this project and to help provide a quality living environment for generations of Lambda Chis to come. Remember that each of us benefited from the generosity, work, and sacrifice of those who went before us. We all enjoyed the home and brotherhood LCA provided during our years at Alabama. Now it is our turn to step up and support the financial challenge associated with this project, ensuring that the same valuable experience we enjoyed is available for others who follow us.

With your support, LCA will continue to evolve as the leading fraternity on campus, providing a quality living environment that supports, nurtures, and develops outstanding young men with the skills and confidence to face an ever-changing world. The commitment we make today cannot be underestimated--it will have a ripple effect on the lives of future Lambda Chis for years to come.
